It is 7 months since the project started in partnership with URC, Makindye Division and Health Unit
Project worked with 11 Community Linkage Facilitators who are attached to 15
Health Units in Makindye Division.
Community TB Screening in the 11 TB hot spots were carried out
Referral & Linkages
Community activities to Improve TB treatment outcomes. These included
community Based DOTs; adherence counselling and client follow up.
Strengthening community structures through coaching. These included VHTs, CLFs,
community based staff.
Carried out Community awareness for increased demand creation for improved
The team started with identification of TB cases in facility TB registers. There are over 410 index clients in the local facilities for the last 6 months whose contacts had not been traced before project.
The project worked in partnership with existing community structures which has increasingly contributed to selection of Community Linkage Facilitators, case detection and notification of TB clients with support from URC Defeat TB and KCCA, Makindye Division.
